Course Description
Fundamentals of Sustainable Events is a live and interactive course where you'll discover how to apply the lens of sustainability to your event planning process. You'll learn best practices for reducing the environmental impact of your events and explore how to embed sustainability into every aspect of your event.
Through live instruction, discussion, and activities, you’ll learn how to:
Make a business case for sustainable meetings and events
Create a culture of sustainability within your event planning process and team
Set your sustainability programs up for maximum success through collaboration and budgeting
Understand the causes and solutions to climate change
Incorporate ways to reduce your events' greenhouse gas emissions
Reduce event waste and divert material from landfills
Compare different aspects of sustainable food & beverage
Measure, report and share your event's sustainability results
Program will include a workbook / document as a takeaway for participants.
Course Fees
Non-Member: $225 (plus $16.94 ticket fee)
MUSE Member: $149 (plus $11.83 ticket fee)
About Julia
Julia Spangler is a sustainability consultant, educator, and entrepreneur. She is passionate about appreciating the value and beauty of natural resources by preventing waste and developing a circular economy.
Since founding Ecosystem Events in 2015, Julia has educated event professionals around the world about sustainability and led waste diversion programs at dozens of events. Her clients include Live Nation, Indiana State Fairgrounds, and the Indianapolis Zoo. She is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
